TK Associates is marketing the introduction of a commercial connection to ‘Janet’ – the UK’s prestigious, ultra-fast academic IT network – as part of a drive to broaden the use of Janet boost the UK’s digital economy.
Janet (originally called the ‘Joint Academic Network’) has been developed over the last 30 years as a high-bandwidth network for the UK’s academic, research and scientific communities. It comprises over 5,000 km of optical fibre spanning from Land’s End to John O’Groats.
A Janet connection is now available to organisations placing their IT systems within the high security data centre run by MIGSOLV. Its broader commercial availability opens up the opportunity for businesses to trade with a whole new marketplace of public bodies.
The launch is a part of a drive by Janet’s commercial arm, Jiscom, to extend the use of Janet to boost the UK’s digital economy.
