We are managing a community consultation for the development of a new factory in St Leonards, East Sussex.
The brief is to consult local residents about proposals to create a manufacturing facility for Michael Tyler Furniture Ltd, makers of high-end upholstered furniture, before a planning application is submitted.
The consultation will include face-to-face engagement with residents as well as online information being made available. Feedback will be collated and summarised for the development team to take into consideration as it finalises its plans.
The proposed factory (see artist’s impression below) would be an approximately 30,000 sq ft single-storey building including workshops, a showroom, offices, a staff common room, canteen and car park.
This facility would be the first development on the North Queensway Innovation Park – an approximately 12-acre site designated in the area’s Local Plan for business use. It is capable of accommodating up to 120,000 sq ft of premises in total.
If the scheme goes ahead, the developers would, at the same time, install drainage, services and a site road to support the facility. The works would also include the planting of trees, wildflowers and grasses to reinforce the natural screening between the new building and nearby homes.
