TK Associates is delivering a public consultation exercise around proposals for a multi-million pound road to open up extensive development land near Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex.

The ‘North Bexhill Access Road’ (shown below) would enable commercial and residential development on a large area of land identified in Rother District Council’s Local Plan. It has the potential to generate up to 1,600 local jobs.

The scheme is part of a wider programme to expand the Bexhill urban area to the north of the town, creating a thriving new residential and business community with over 1,000 new homes and 500,000 sq ft of additional business premises.

This is forecast to boost the local economy by £1 billion over the next 10 years.

We are running the consultation in partnership with engineers Campbell Reith and GTA Civils, and ecological consultants Applied Ecology.

The exercise includes:

  • facilitation of face-to-face consultation sessions for councillors, residents and local businesses
  • creation of materials to explain the proposals in simple, plain English terms
  • communication of the proposals via the media and online channels
  • an invitation for people to submit written comments
  • a report which will summarise the consultation findings

The consultation report will form part of the planning application for the road scheme which is due to be submitted later this summer.
